Engine Overheats

A car has recently been overheating on the highway. The problem started suddenly. One person says the problem is the thermostat. But the thermostat was checked and prove to be OK. What might cause and engine to overheat?

 Solution:
One of the more common causes of an engine overheating is a bad radiator pressure cap. The radiator pressure cap is design to keep 15 pounds of pressure on the cooling system. As the pressure on the cooling system increases, the boiling point also increases. If the pressure on the cooling system has been reduce (bad radiator pressure cap), the boiling point is also reduce. Using a pressure cap and cooling system tester, check the cap, and replaced the cap if necessary.
